STRUCTURE PRECEDES PERFORMANCE

THE AMERICAN BULLETIN OF STOCK ANALYSIS

Doctrinal counterweight to the structural fragility of modern financial analysis.

Lexicon

Preview: Conceptual Doctrine Only

Most financial disagreement is not disagreement about numbers. It is disagreement about language. The ABSA Lexicon exists to impose definitional discipline where interpretation tends to drift.

This preview publishes conceptual definitions and taxonomy only.

Operational doctrine—thresholds, normalization rules, weights, and conditions of stoppage—is disclosed exclusively in The Forensic Lexicon (Vol. I).

The intent is not secrecy for its own sake. The intent is to prevent misuse, misclassification, and false precision.

Framework Memoranda

Methodological orientation and analytical sequence

These memoranda establish interpretive posture and analytical precedence. They are illustrative and non-operational. No formulas, thresholds, or classification triggers are disclosed.

These documents precede both the Notes and the Lexicon taxonomy. Operational doctrine remains disclosed exclusively in The Forensic Lexicon (Vol. I).

Taxonomy

ABSA uses defined language to prevent interpretive drift.

The Lexicon is organized around a small set of structural categories. These categories are not “topics.” They are analytical boundaries that determine what can be concluded from filings and what must remain unclaimed.

Category

Admissibility

The conditions under which analysis is structurally legitimate, and the conditions under which it collapses into narrative.

Category

Constraint

Obligations, rigidity, and temporal distribution—what the structure cannot negotiate when conditions tighten.

Category

Refinancing Dependence

The degree to which survival requires continuous access to external capital markets, rather than internal sufficiency.

Category

Classification

A structural taxonomy (Class I–V) describing states of discretion and constraint—conceptual on this site, operational in Vol. I.

Operational definitions, thresholds, and classification triggers are intentionally withheld from the public library.

Public Registry

Structural classification under the ABSA framework is recorded publicly in the ABSA Scale Registry . The Lexicon governs terminology, sequence, and admissibility. It does not publish applied classifications, registries, or issuer-level outcomes.

Selected Terms

Preview entries (conceptual, non-operational).

The entries below illustrate the Lexicon’s posture: precision of meaning without operational disclosure. Public-facing terms are intentionally limited. Full definitions, constraints, and governance remain confined to Vol. I.

Entry

WITHHELD

Liquidity vs Solvency

Liquidity is a snapshot condition. Solvency is a structural property. ABSA treats them as non-substitutable.

Self-Financing Capacity (SFC)

A concept describing the degree to which an entity sustains its capital needs internally, under constraint.

Refinancing Dependence

A structural condition in which continuity depends on external markets rather than internal sufficiency.

WITHHELD

Structural Discretion

The retained ability to choose under stress: postpone, reduce, reallocate—without forfeiting continuity.

Controlled Disclosure

The Lexicon is the doctrine. The site is the perimeter.

The public library establishes conceptual boundaries and corrects common analytical inversions. The operational doctrine— formal definitions, constraints, and classification governance—resides exclusively in The Forensic Lexicon (Vol. I).
